LOUIS VUITTON – MARC JACOBS, LES ARTS DECORATIFS
The Arts Decoratifs collections in Paris will this year include a unique presentation celebrating the work of two pioneering names in fashion; Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton.
By Lucy Mclean
Louis Vuitton founded his legendary fashion House back in 1854 during the peak of industrialisation appropriating unique cultural codes and trends in order to shape the history of contemporary fashion. The exhibition’s parallel story follows the life and work of Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton’s Creative Director since 1997, revealing innovation during an equally important period of 21st Century globalisation.
With an in-depth analysis into French craftmanship, technological progress, stylistic creation and artistic collaboration, this exhibition is more than your traditional retrospective. Collections include a selection of Louis Vuitton’s trunks amongst a variety of 19th Century clothing and accessories, as well as some of Marc Jacob’s most emblematic designs which trace back through the last 15 years of his career at Louis Vuitton.
The ‘Louis Vuitton Marc Jacobs‘ exhibition will take place at Les Arts Decoratifs in Paris between 9th March and 16th September 2012.
