SUMMER 2011: CHANEL OPENS TWO EPHEMERAL BOUTIQUES IN SOUTH OF FRANCE
The first ephemeral boutique will be opening in the space next to the existing Chanel boutique in Cannes on May 7th. Inspired by the jewellery of the Spring/Summer 2011 Ready-to-Wear collection, the boutique is decorated in the signature colours of black and gold featuring units tiled with golden mosaics.
The makeup bar shows off the latest Lumières Byzantines eye shadow palette, created by Pete Philips for the Paris-Byzance collection, while the nail bar displays a palette of summery tones and the handbag bar showcases a shining selection of gold and glitter…
Karl Lagerfeld’s new dolls will be subtly nestled amongst the décor, reinterpreting the collection with her elegant black velvet suit, gemstone braiding and thigh-high crimson boots. Amongst pieces from Chanel’s current 2011 Ready-to-Wear collection the boutique will provide a sneak preview of pieces from the Paris-Byzance collection, a selection of belted Erès swimwear adorned with Chanel jewellery, and limited edition camellias by Lemarié in bronze and muted gold lambskin.
There will be a glamorous exhibtion of gowns and suits on loan from the Chanel Consevratory, famously worn by renowned fans of the House, such as Keira Knightley, Michelle Williams, Penelope Cruz and Michelle Mercier.
Meanwhile, a lucky few will gain an impressive view of the red carpet leading up to the Palais des Festivals from a small private lounge on the 1st floor of the boutique, decorated with smart black mosaic flooring, stunning sequin-embroidered rugs and design furniture by Mies van der Rohe.
From May 7th to May 22nd 2011, 10am to 7pm
