BACKSTAGE LA MAISON DU COUTURIER AT KFD
Italian label La Maison du Couturier was born from the creativity and tailoring experience of its founder, Lamberto Petri. The concept behind the label is to blend Japanese fashion culture with a sense of Romanticism that is traditional to Italian culture.
The collection for Autumn/Winter 2011, shown on Day 2 of the recent Kiev Fashion Days in Ukraine, was strongly dominated by thick layers and silk prints. The heavy use of silk brought a sense of femininity and sensuality to the collection while the bright tassled leather handbags and unusual prints; x-ray images of bones and photographs of rusting metal, provided a contrasting tone of alternative and contemporary design work.
The colours of the collection remained natural and classic with shades of tan brown, grey, black and a floor length dress in full camouflage print. Combinations of leather and knitwear in diagonal cuts brought variety to the catwalk whilst classic details such as layered jackets, ruched fabrics and long folds of chiffon featured heavily throughout. The tailoring was high quality and the modern style and material combinations brought a contemporary edge to a beautiful collection.
