MODALISBOA DAY 4: BACKSTAGE DINO ALVES A/W 11
This collection is a metaphorical representation of the permanent reconstruction of our futures; the way in which we change pathways through life and have to rebuild what has been broken or destroyed. The clothes appear to have been “rebuilt” and pieced together in rectangular blocks, mixing colours and materials to create a suave collection of minimalistic clothing.
There appears to be some Western-style inspiration such as flared trousers and rodeo shirts with coloured panels in black, green, red, brown or lilac. Material details include quilted brown leather, stripes of transparent chiffon and shirts with Lycra and silk combinations.
The overall look is androgynous and asymmetrical with distinct collars, belts and blocks of colour throughout the collection, while the catwalk show was concluded with the appearance of an impressive illuminated bodice dress which appeared to have been constructed from old neon light strips, reinforcing the idea of rebuilding from scraps.
