AGANOVICH 0.5 COLLECTION A/W 2011, PARIS
Azure, cobalt, cerulean, ultramarine; the fifth collection by Aganovich is exclusively blue for the upcoming Autumn/Winter season. Using a variety of different materials and styling, Aganovich succeeded to present an interesting and diverse show with such a limited palette, displaying the ability of each material to absorb pigment in a different manner and create unique shades and variations within each look.
Presented on the 1st March at Palais de Tokyo as part of Paris Fashion Week, the catwalk show featured such colour experimentation on silk, denim, velvet and satin in an effort to portray unexpected tones and reinvent the colour blue, breaking away from its previous connotations with the monarchy, 19th Century working parties or even divine and virginal imagery.
Aganovich believes it’s wrong to view fashion as a torrent of images, wealth and splendour when in reality it’s a world where everything is meticulously planned in advance and the smallest of details can flourish, develop and surprise. In response to this, the new collection involves the closure of narrative in favour of discourse.
