The winner will be awarded with the MFA prize of €300.000, the largest sum of money currently offered in a competition of this kind, providing the young designer with the financial support needed to further their collections. On top of this, each of the 10 finalists receive a sum of €18.000 to cover all production costs of the collections that will be judged. This years registration period began on the 15th February and designers have until the 31st of July 2011 to submit their works. Finalists are announced in mid-November 2011. Previous awards have showcased an impressive judging panel including Valentino, Oscar de la Renta and Jean Paul Gaultier along with support from Central Saint Martins, Institut Français de la Mode, Istituto Marangoni, the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp and l’Escole Superior de Disseny.
Last years winner, Belgian designer of Israeli origin, Lena Lumelsky, was awarded the prestigious prize during the MFA Ceremony at the National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC) in Barcelona.
