Dino Alves has had a multifaceted career and an innovative vision that has contributed to furthering Portuguese fashion. With a degree in Painting from the Escola Superior Artística do Porto, Alves initially explored the world of photography and cinema before giving himself over fully to the world of fashion. From his first show at “Manobras de Maio” in 1994 to his contributions to dance, theatre and film shows.
Dino Alves’ Autumn/Winter 2024/25 collection is an ode to the world of football, named VITÓRIA! Dino speaks about the collection: “This fashion show aims to celebrate healthy competition, the joy of victory and not the defeat of the opposing team, the fair play of many athletes and their fans, the peace and empathy on the pitch and in the stands, the joy of sharing emotions at the moment of a goal.”
The project was in collaboration with BetClic a French betting site that allows football fans to show their support for their favourite teams by betting on them.
It was also in partnership with Liga Portugal BetClic, which is the highest level of the Portuguese Football League system. National football stars like Ricardo Quaresma and Nuno Gomes also graced the runway in support of Dino.
In contrast to the sporting context, the pieces feature a diversity of fabrics and textures, from 100% wool farms to crochet and tweed.
He is also known for utilising tulle in his collections, and this one is no exception.
His garments had laser-made patterns that had symbolism referring to the football universe.
To further the team spirit, he created an emblem, which was added to certain pieces of clothing, which represent a fictitious Dino Alves team.
The colour palette, used ranged from classic black and white to vibrant shades of red, blue and green.
With sporty details skilfully incorporated into sophisticated tailoring, this collection represents the perfect fusion of fashion and sport, celebrating the diversity and excitement that football brings to our lives.
