During Saturday morning of “ModaLisboa For Good” we had the opportunity to work with Ukrainian model Dina Shestopalova. With the help of Anderson Vescah we curated five looks from the “Sangue Novo” designers who represent the next generation of up and coming Portuguese fashion design at ModaLisboa.

ZOOT beauty editor, Antónia, met us backstage at ModaLisboa and gave our model, Dina, mesmerising silver eyelashes surrounded by a cloud of blue eyeshadow. Hairstylist Helena, used a staggering surrealistic wig, that evoked both a sculpture and a hint of Morticia Addams’ iconic hairstyle. Both were originally created for the fashion presentation of João Magalhães, but unfortunately he fell ill and his collection was shown after ModaLisboa, in his atelier. You can check out our film on his collection here.
This edition of ModaLisboa, once again, was set in the beautiful and very central venue of Pátio da Galé, close to Praça do Comércio. The weather was a little stormy and rainy, but nevertheless we took the risk to go to one of our favourite spots close to the waterfront, where Lisbon collides with it’s river, Tejo. The “Cais das Colunas” formerly marked the start of the marble steps which originally led up to Lisbon’s Ribeira Palace. For about 250 years it was the main residence of the Portuguese Kings before it got destroyed by the 1755 earthquake, only leaving the columns and stairs to remain until today. Next to it, a little sandy beach opens up, that is visible during lowtide. The stairs are one of Lisbon’s beloved meeting points to view the sunset looking west.
As we photographed, Dina kept dancing angelically for the camera, with the wind and river in harmony, portraying fragility and delicacy in each shot. Dina, who’s nationality is Ukrainian, said she felt like she was floating, as she remembered the memories of her home country. She depicted the lightness of her thoughts through her movements on camera.
