Ukrainian photographer, Tatyana Kizeeva, takes us into the streets of Barcelona, to Avinguda Diagonal, the great street that cuts Barcelona in two halves. In the area of Eixample, close to Gaudi´s Sagrada Familia, she created a distinctive set of images to demonstrate how uniqueness and individuality in personal style plays a part in making the world a more beautiful and unusual place. Having fled Ukraine when the war began, she picked the Spanish city as her new home after working there during previous years.

For the concept of this shoot, Tatyana and her team wanted to highlight the uniqueness of an individual through their style in an urban setting. With the help of stylist Patrycja Helena Bielawska and fellow Ukrainian makeup and hairstylist Evgeniya Temnikova, they aimed to combine bold outfits with undistinctive locations. “The shooting took place during a not very warm period of the year, but this only added to the dynamics and motivation.” The photoshoot was set in Avinguda Diagonal, which felt like a location that captured the vibrant spirit of the city without showing the more obvious and famous places of Barcelona. The unusual beauty of Argentinian model Mica Tosi was the perfect canvas for makeup artist Evgenia.
The editorial wants to encourage woman to experiment with their wardrobe and be more confident. Stylist Patrycja Helena makes Mica stand out by combining and layering different textures and styles from brands, mostly hailing from Spain and Latin America. There is a strong theme of sustainability and the use of vintage/second-hand clothing in this editorial, as most of the labels have their products handmade and use dead stock fabrics. Many of them limit production, in order to avoid wastage and produce locally which contributes to the growth of local businesses.
Lately I’ve been doing photoshoots on the streets a lot; Barcelona inspires me with every street. And I noticed that more often people choose the most “presentable” locations for pictures, just as on social networks people broadcast the most beautiful part of themselves and their lives. I think that any location in the city has its own unique beauty: be it an ancient, modern or an unfinished part.

[author title=”Tatyana Kizeeva, photographer” image=”http://www.zootmagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/image0.jpeg”]After studying art and photography in Kyiv, Tatyana became co-owner of a photo studio, and in 2007 was running a full-cycle production agency, one of the the first large studios in Kyiv including a division for photography & video. The studio had to close during a crisis, but in 2009 she opened her own production agency, where she worked with Ukrainian and International brands ranging from Europe to major markets like the U.S and China. In 2017 Tatyana organized her own exhibition in Kyiv, with famous Ukrainian women. The idea of the project was to inspire women to self-development and to find their natural beauty; many more interesting projects were created as a result. With the start of the war in Ukraine in 2022, she had to leave her country and moved to Barcelona. One year later she met a great team of professionals, and they created the project «An unusual swim» for Vogue Portugal, which also won an award at LCI Barcelona Fashion Film Festival for New Talent. Currently Tatyana is working as a freelancer throughout Europe.
