YOUTH CLUB PROJECTS PRESENTS 'INSIDE JOB', LONDON

Youth Club recently opened a brand new gallery space near Carnaby Street in Central London and is now presenting its first project exhibition called “INSIDE JOB”. The collaborative exhibition showcases work of UK photographer Lawrence Watson, renowned for his work spanning over 25 years with rock, hip hop and britpop legends such as David Bowie, Snoop Dogg, New Order, Isaac Hayes, Morrissey and The Smiths, Blur and Pulp as well as working extensively with British legends Oasis.
The exhibition also sees a selection of unique jackets on display from bespoke street wear label House of Billiam. This UK clothing line takes classic British suiting fabrics and transforms them into unsuit-like clothes for both men and women, made-to-measure and crafted from exquisite materials whilst maintaining a modern streetwear style.
The centrepiece of the exhibition is a Youth Club commissioned House of Billiam varsity jacket in trademark Youth Club colours and lined with a unique print photograph of LL Cool J taken by Lawrence Watson in Philadelphia in the 1980s for the NME. Watson recalls:
“The journalist was Stuart Cosgrove… We were probably the only two white guys in the place and I was the only photographer in the pit. While LL was performing gunshots went off in the venue at the back in celebration. Only LL”s father rushed onstage to remove him. When calm had set back in he returned to finish his set”.
INSIDE JOB will be giving photography fans & streetwear aficionados the unique opportunity to purchase a one-off, bespoke House of Billiam Varsity jacket with the lining made from a Youth Club photograph of their own choice.
The exhibition continues until 19th July, meanwhile Lawrence Watsons photography book “The World is Yours” is available to as a signed copy and also available to download as an eBook from iTunes.
