GONZALO BENARD FOR ARDENTEES

Internationally acclaimed Lisbon-based photographer Gonzalo Bénard has created an exclusive limited edition collection for the original creative fashion brand Ardentees (ARDT) of Singapore.

ARDT aim to create unique fashion pieces, working with creative talents worldwide to provide exclusive artwork on a wearable canvas. The Portuguese artist and photographer Gonzalo Bénard has created the latest stand alone collection, with only 100 pieces available, comprised of 4 photographic t-shirts. Bénard’s work plays with a variety of themes from light and feelings to cultures and people, creating a rich dialogue without distraction. His work can be found in both public and private collections throughout Europe and Australia.

Each of the 100 t-shirts created with ARDT features an individually numbered woven tag sewn inside and an individually numbered hang tag to make it exclusive and desireable.

The “Letter in the Mind” tee portrays a mask formed by words from a soul without a body. With no skin to write on, a soul is left with its feelings hanging in the foreground, only visible to the eyes of others. In this way, the image depicts a man trapped within dementia, masked by the words of his unheard soul.

“My Private School Board” features one of Bénard’s last paintings before he discovered his true passion for photography. The ideas stem from his tumultuous period at a Catholic School.

The design entitled “Virgin Breast Feeding” is also a daring development of ideas from his time at Catholic School.

And finally, “Double Smoking Me” is an image resulting from his personal fascination with stills in Classic silent movies.
