20-27 MAY: CHIADO NA MODA 2011, LISBON
Starting tomorrow, Friday 20th May, the latest ‘Chiado na Moda: Baixa Pombalina Fashion View‘ will be taking over downtown Lisbon to provide an interesting schedule of open air catwalks, exhibitions, conferences and live entertainment, as well as the popular Mercado da Moda featuring 24 market stands from participating stores and boutiques, including Storytailors, Gardenia, Filthy Rich, Via Chiado and Chicoração.
The event kicks off with the inauguration at 7pm in MUDE Museum. The Mercado da Moda will take place in Praça D. Pedro IV (Rossio) from 10am- 10pm each day and on Friday and Saturday there will also be a special Campaign for Animal Adoption in Praça Luís de Camões.
Portuguese designer, José Antonio Tenente will present the first catwalk of the event in Praça do Município on Friday evening at 9pm, followed by a catwalk from a collaboration of stores in Baixa Pombalina.
In true Lisbon/Chiado spirit, the event will continue to be multicultural and multifaceted including alternative events for all ages and interests, such as the table tennis tournament on Sunday 10am-2pm, a mixture of orchestral and jazz music performances, an exhibition of antique automobiles and a variety of dance performances taking place throughout the week in different locations around the downtown area. Closing the event on Friday 27th May in Largo de Sãð Carlos there will be a catwalk by popular portuguese designers Storytailors at 9pm, then collaborating Chiado stores will present a catwalk at 10.30pm, followed by the final catwalk from the renowned Ana Sabino Atelier.
