The earthquake, tsunami and consequent nuclear emergency in Japan shocked us all, deeply touching our hearts. Different brands and fashion houses recently launched fundraising projects and events to help the country coping with the emergency: yoox.com teamed up with 8 international fashion brands to actively show solidarity. Ann Demeulemeester, Antonio Marras, Dsquared2, Kitsuné, Maison Martin Margiela, Marni, Moschino and Y-3 created unique one-off T-shirts inspired by the “We Love Japan” theme. The shirts are currently sold on yoox.com and all proceeds from their sale goes to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) for the earthquake and tsunami relief efforts in Japan.
Each brand reinterpreted the Japanese flag in its own way: Moschino mixed for example the Italian flag with the Nisshōki while Maison Martin Margiela substituted the bright red disk symbolising the sun with a circle of red lipstick kisses.
