'CORPOS ESTRANHOS' EXHIBITION AT GALERIA BOZART, LISBON
Galeria Bozart opened its doors during June of 2010 as a space for alternative art and design in the heart of Lisbon. The gallery is now presenting its latest exhibition by upcoming artists Lucia Cardoso and Nadine Jacinto. For both artists it is their first show as individuals in a gallery in Lisbon and both are displaying an interesting and diverse take on the theme of “foreign bodies”.
For Nadine Jacinto, to be human is to be a foreign body; an organism that in time adapts to its environment. The artist works with rubbish and in this way is able to transfer the negative into the positive, to create order from a chaos of material created by human life… from trash arises creation. Her work also mirrors ideas of the ‘butterfly effect’ where one thing cannot be moved without affecting another…
Lucia Cardoso on the other hand based her work on the world of insects and the ideas of metamorphosis, believing that in this world the creatures are born to know which is their path, their route in life. She focuses on the microscopic details of these creatures to create a ‘system’ from fragments of life, to see what would never normally be seen…
The exhibition is open to the public now and will run until the 16th April 2011.
