LFW DAY 1: JEAN-PIERRE BRAGANZA A/W 2011
The title of Jean-Pierre Braganza”s collection, “Positronyx”, could have been perfect for a novel or a film set in a dystopic future. For the Autumnal season the designer chose indeed to move away from the heavenly themes of his previous collection to explore a darker world. Though still characterised by Braganza”s tailoring and costruction techniques, this time the collection looked at a sort of post-apolyptic cyber future in which warrior women ruled. Braganza interpreted the regimented uniform of this tribe of strong women through deconstructed tailored suits online casinos with peaked shoulders or dresses online casino with leather and rubber inserts or graphic panels matched with long leather gloves.
The designer also tried to create a balance between figure-hugging designs and cocooning coats and oversized jumpers in which sheer fabric was juxtaposed to knitted stripes, adding a few evening pieces such as a dress with appliquéd red beads that created sparkling futuristic motifs. The most interesting piece remained the final sculpted wool suit in which the skin exposed by the cut out motifs became a vital part of the design.
