19 -22 JAN: MERCEDES -BENZ FASHION WEEK BERLIN STARTS TODAY
The tent at Bebelplatz in Berlin is giving – from today – home to fall 2011 runway collections of over twenty-five designers. The city is staging the unique combination of cutting edge labels and well established names. A huge fashion crowd from all over the world is expected to attend the shows at the famous square.
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin kicked off today at 10am with Belgian husband-wife team Filip Arickx and An Vandevorst, for A.F. Vandevorst’s 2011 fall collection (images to the left and below). Breathtaking Craig McDean photo is at the heart of the campaign, depicting supermodel Karolina Kurkova by the new Mercedes-Benz CLS, styled by Marie-Amélie Sauvé, who’s been crucial to Vogue Paris since a long time. As for the Bebelplatz event, fall 2011 shows will be running non-stop until next Saturday, with household names like HUGO by Hugo Boss alongside dreamy Kaviar Gauche or often shocking Patrick Mohr. This time round, Swedish fashion will get the spotlight with three female designers from Stockholm – Camilla Norrback, Diana Orving and Ida Sjöstedt – sending their looks down the runway. A fashion photography exhibition by Camilla Åkrans, a screening of films and a lecture on Swedish fashion history and current trends are off-catwalk events to take place during these next days. Highly anticipated are also the superb designs of polish Dawid Tomaszewski, and Bllack Noir’s collection that relies on Peter Ingwersen eco conscious mind and fair-trade fabrics. Berlin is once again at the center of the fashion world. Trends are blowing from the German capital starting now!
