JAN 19 – 23: RECOLLECTION QUARTETT, BERLIN
Mercedes-Benz and Frederik Heyman Take a Trip Down Memory Lane.
For the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin, MoMu, the Fashion Museum in Antwerp and Mercedes-Benz, invited Belgian art director Frederik Heyman and 4 fashion designers —Bernhard Willhelm, Peter Pilotto, Henrik Vibskov and Mikio Sakabe—to create 4 installations.
Superb Mercedes-Benz machines from the 70’s, 80’s and early 90’s are due to be revived next week in Berlin, with the help of young photographer and master of art direction Frederik Heyman. Moving away from traditional fashion imagery, the Belgian artist is teaming up with designers closer to the Antwerp school: Mikio Sakabe, Bernhard Willhelm, Henrik Vibskov and Peter Pilotto. These designers will be incorporating their unique views in art pieces that include four Mercedes-Benz classic models W115, S123, R107 and C126. This marriage between fashion and cars is taking the form of installations in the paint studio at the Deutsche Opera of the German capital, being the result of a collaboration between MoMu – Fashion Museum Antwerp and the namely famous car company. The exhibition will run for five days only and is an opportunity to experience Frederik Heyman’s work during the upcoming Berlin Fashion Week. Heyman has previously worked with other Belgian designers like Kris Van Assche and Bruno Pieters. As for the Recollection Quartett project we expect more of his theatrical set images, with the Mercedes-Benz ingredient to it.
