UNTIL 24 OCT: PORTRAITS/POSITIONS BY PAUL MPAGI SEPUYA AT NPCA, NY
Portraits/ Positions present several new large-scale photo-based works of photographer and ZOOT contributor PAUL MPAGI SEPUYA. Next week is the closing of his exhibition at NPCAC in New York. On the final Sunday, 24 October there will be a screening of a video including some works of the artist.
Paul Mpagi Sepuya’s exploration into the act of portrait-making is a very personal process. Like previous projects, these pieces are situated among the artist’s intimate circle. Rather than a serial collection of portraits that isolate the physical connecting lines between people, these new works focus on the shared emotional lines within the physical site and situation in which portraiture happens.
On view until 24 October at NPCAC, 131 Chrystie Street on the Lower East Side, NY.
